Talkingwintersowing!

Lets see a show of hands, how many here are going to be wintersowers this year???I'm in! Don't forget we have a wintersown social group, I need to remember this also! Soon time to gather your seeds and see what will work for this! I hope to have a good year, and it also gives us gardeners something to do during winter!

I had planned on wintersowing all the wonderful seeds I recieved here on PS, but I'm learning my plants are not happy with my woodstove heat and the room I'm using as my plant room is not liking my humidifier. So I will have to wait till early spring. But I would love to be kept updated on everyone elses wintersowing and pictures of sprouts please.

My regular greenhouse is too full of brugs. to have room for my winter sowing so I bought one of those 4 shelved mini greenhouses and use that for my winter sowing. That way I can zip it up and don't have to worry about squirrels or other pests getting into my pots.

Wintersowing this year to...

I to will be enjoying getting my hands dirty this winter. Rearranging my green house and find a spot to plant the seeds.. Sure hope I get the bigger g-h soon.

Patricia,,I to have the 4 rack g-h.Got it 2 years ago.I had mine out side, and mice or something was getting into it.Ate up the seeds I planted, just as they were sprouting.I was very mad at that creature and put poison out for them .But saving the small plants were to late..

If any one else has a 4 rack mini g-h..Do you put seed starts in there for the cold to get them started,or plant tender seeds in there and put in g-h or home.??? Let me know please.

And I will keep check on the wintersowing post as well.

I will be doing winter sowing for the first time. Really looking forward to it as seedeing scares me. I'm afraid once the seeds are ready i will kill them when i put them in the ground. Deffinately will be out on the winter sowing room.

I start all my seeds except for tropical and sub tropical trees in my mini greenhouse which will be sitting under my patio cover. We get down in the 30 during the winter so not as cold as some of you, but just about everything I put in there germinates . My tropical and sub tropical seeds I start in the spring inside the greenhouse on a propagating mat. I used to have the 3rd. garage where I had a table with my propagating mats set up with grow lights to start the more tender plants, but my husband had to move his office home so there went my plant room.

Hand Raised!!!!!!!

I plan on doing some wintersowing. I've got the empty milk jugs saved up! I've never done it before, either, but have really been impressed with what I've read about it.

try

I think I'm gonna try soda cans or something metal and try to engave for tags, I tried permanent markers, popsicle sticks inside and just don't seem to be able to read what I had planted. So we'll see how this goes for me. That way its not the usual guessing game.
