Who feels like joining in on a petunia grow-out this winter?

Hi everyone, old friends and many new people I have never met.

My name is Lynn (fearadyn) and I have hosted what we call 'grow-outs' in the past.

This is where we have a group of people who want to try growing something new from seed. And we do it in the middle of winter when we all are missing our growing things.

The purpose is first of all to tackle those winter blues~the second is that I will teach you methods that I have learned to grow this type of plant indoors in the dead of winter.

It does not matter if you are just now learning to garden or are an old hat~we all wind up learning from each other.

The host (me) will send you seed packs of a type of seed~this year will be petunia~to all the members of the grow out.

You send me postage to cover the cost of getting the seeds to you. In this case it should only be like 2 stamps.

By the time the grow out starts I will have shown you all the tools you will need to not only grow this plant indoors but to get them to bloom in the middle of winter as well.

You will take that information and gather what you will need and get the space you will use to grow them set up.

Once we are all ready, around the 1st of January, I will send the seeds out and we all will plant at around the same time.

Sometimes people have creative ideas they want to try out and these are welcome.

One of the main things you will need is use of a camera to document your setup and your progress and share that with the rest of the group. In this way, as all the seeds are in different environments, results will vary and we all wind up learning new things.

In spring you just harden them off and transplant them outdoors, in the ground, pots, hanging baskets or whatever you like.

You will learn that it is so easy to grow these from seed, that you will never have to pay for halfgrown plants again. Plus the petunia seeds are inexpensive and there is a huge variety of them as well. You will be able to grow petunia plants that you can't find in your nearby store, or couldn't afford to buy elsewhere.

So this post is to see if or how many of you would be interested in joining in~We need to have at least 10 people join and more if possible.

Hope to see you join, it's a great way to make winter pass more quickly

Seeds intimidate me. So I guess I should tackle that fear.
