YEA!Worked on my yard today and yes I look like a lobster. So be it! Yea sweat running off my head, but got the red velvet sunflowers plantd, some cannas, mexican sunflowers, lots of weeding too. Oh I hear ya about the water can!!! I have hoses on both sides of my house and I lug those things all over my yard. Its always nice when mother nature helps out with the watering.

Here in Virginia, I have had 110 degrees with the heat index, I was gardening
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so I look like the main dish in a New England
Clam Boil!! I planted Phlox, Bee Balm, mexican splendor primrose, lantana, meadow sage and achilles, and I started a hosta garden
so I feel proud of myself!

I always keep some aloe vera growing around the house (in containers if not in the ground) just to have handy when someone gets sunburned. It works so much better from a fresh cut leaf than from any gel/lotion you can buy at the store.

You're so right-

My foster kids always get wide eyed and say somethin like "You're not putting that thorny thing on my sunburn" when I cut it off the plant! (hee hee)
Don't you hate it when it gets so hot your hoses kink all over the yard as you drag? I so want to put in a sprinkler system but its too expensive and the city would really crack down on me about the water usage if they saw the sprinklers on each day and noone out there. We are only supposed to use the water on certain days (twice a week) but they've driven by and not said anything to me as long as I was hand watering with the hose. They crack down on sprinklers. I sure hate that twisty hose-maybe I should just replace the hose. Not sure if it would help much-maybe for a week. Whatcha think? How often do you replace your hoses?

I think the hose thing is because of the heat. When the hose gets really warm is softens up and the kinks more easily. I for one would love to come up with an un-kinkable hose that really works. Mine always seems to kink close to the house when I am already halfway across the yard.!!

I have a newly aquired lobster look today. Was out in the yard most of day, at least until the storms hit. Got alot done and got myself a sunburn too. I came inside and my daugher said........Oh ma, you are really burned!!! LOL Good thing I have some aloe here too. Man I was on a roll until it started storming. Darned storms interupted my work!!! I just know I could have gotten that other bed straightened out today too if it hadnt been storming.
