Hi suzy,
Sounds like your ditch will be beautiful. What a nice idea to plant your hollyhock seed near it! Would love to see pics when they bloom.

Others, Which Seeds Are You Planting At This Time?

The Russians have some beautiful yellow ones that I like but as of yet I have not succeeded in growing Holly hocks out on my land. I am still not improving my dirt in most areas of the garden. That might have something to do with it ,...Ya think?

Actually these russian hollies were trial by PD in N.C. That is wher I saw them in years gone by. I almost bought them several times.By the way, Russia has the Black see coast also which is almost semi tropical. ...Palms and stuff like ORANGES in Sochi

suzy, your hollyhocks are very pretty! Thanks for showing us. So you do not have to replant them each year? What is your planting zone? Your interesting combo of red poppies/purple iris should look very nice. Show us pics when they bloom.

Thanks flowerdazed, yes they come back every year. They re seed and I can never collect all the seeds before they drop.
Angie, yes, love the hollyhocks, was hard for me to get the first few started but now pretty much just toss the seeds on the ground.

I try and keep everything in a row for easier mowing.
