Ok, I found something on here that is really and truly and rightfully called RARE. Sunnybun's square morning glory.

Sigh .. too bad it's from 2008 .. I would have killed to get seeds from that puppy .. I've seen these only a few times in pictures and keep hoping I'll get one with all the mg's I grow.

Why does it say "Flying Saucers" under the photo? Flying Saucers is not rare.

Flying Saucer is the cultivar .. what's rare is it's SQUARE. Only 4 petals.

I see - has this been isolated, and worked with, or is it still a naturally occurring phenomenon? Like a 4 leaf clover?

It hasn't and the people who get them (Sunnybun) don't realize what they have. All of us mg heads are praying we can get one to see if we can stabilize it. I've only seen pictures and it's always either a I. nil or tricolor.

The picture is from 2008. Seeds are probably long gone and if seeds were collected Sunnybun probably didn't isolate the seeds from the square mg from the rest.

Well, you never know. For all we know, she/he did, or still has seeds from that plant.

There would have been only 4 seeds max if the flower did indeed make seed .. morning glory mutations like that are often not fertile.

Have it your way. If I really want something, I go for it. I've been surprised, pleasantly.

Well I did comment on the picture and if I get a response back, I'll certainly make inquiries.
