"Plant swap" medicinal herb library... or how we we use those fine herbs?I was just curious. I know some herbs have really good medicinal value. For example: Mint: Will help with nausea and upset stomach Lavender: Will help calm the nerves I was wondering how you all use those herbs and plant to treat your body to something good? ![]()

| As a nurse-My red flag is flying high on this. People who use alot of herbs have had bleeding complications and nearly died during surgery from bleeding because they weren't aware that the herbs they use daily cause thinning of the blood and didn't inform their doctors before surgery ("He only asked which medications I took-not what kinds of herbs I used") Some herbs make your interact with your medications and some make your medication ineffective. (Even leaf lettuce and brocolli cause thickening of the blood, along with high nutrients, so my daughter must avoid these foods high in vitamin K while she is on blood thinners for her pumonary embolism) Just check with your doctor if you start using alot of herbs. (Foxglove are where we get our digitalis for strong heart medication) Young people on no medications and with good health are usually safe to use some herbs occasionally-not daily. My 2 cents -Donna |

| ok_nurse! thank you very much! I'm a good example of people forgetting about herbs. I knew, before I wrote the post that some herbs are bad with medecine (I think camomille with asperine is not good), but I simply didn't think about it. ![]() Now I feel terribly bad about posting this. It's amazing the amount of things we have to think of when we go to the doctor. So, in an attempt to redeem myself, I will say that I use a "processed" form of the cocoa bean when I darn well feel like it. I also use a fried version of the common potato, sprinkled with salt and dipped in sour cream when I'm hungry and I drink a mixture of highly carbonized chemical products (usually known as pop, or soda) when I'm thirsty! ![]()

| Point taken- But you know-they are finding that carbonized concoction of chemicals may be slowly killing you also-but at least its FDA approved it so you shouldn't die tomorrow. Just don't drink it with a tomato. ![]() |

| ok_nurse. I wasn't trying to mock you, so I hope you didn't take any offense. I was agreeing with you. Nature is wonderful, but sometimes, mixed with some man made substances, it gives us weird conditions. And, in all honesty, everything is killing me slowly, pop, junk food, my husband. I say, live a happy life, don't hurt anyone or anything and you will have found The Secret! ![]()

Effects of plantsI don't no where this one is going, but marijuana is a plant, and I don't no but I suppose OK nurse would. They use this for cancer patients to help them. I used it when I was young and dumb. Does both reasons make it ok? As with all things we have there is moderation. And there is always good or bad, right or wrong way. ![]()
