Great pix of your yard, Sterling!
You are really putting together a tropical paradise.
How refreshing that pool looks!

I live in Florida, but my yard looks nothing like that. But I am hoping one day it will be at least half as nice. I loved the slide show also.

Sterling-I love your camera! It brings out the beauty of your "retreat". Isn't that a fan palm I saw? Do you bring it in for the winter?
Sure wish I could get my pool as crystal clear as yours. I have three teenaged boys who love to swim instead of shower. Ugh! You'd think they could at least use the vacuum for all the dirt on the bottom. Too much like work. When do the kids figure out that life is full of work? Here I go again-(grumble grumble!!)

my yard "lil jamaica"

Hello--That is a washington fan palm that you see in the background, I do not bring it in for the winter it comes back every year, and keeps 1 or 2 green fronds during the winter.. The only reason our pool is so clear is beacuse we just had to replace the liner(it has fish all on the sides) and we had to buy a new pump, which is double the horsepower, we also use pool frog it makes the chemical work so much easier!!!
The brick patio has been a work in progrees for about 5 years. Every year we add more too it. Though 5 years ago the large stepping stones were $1.55 now they are $3.37 each. Ill post some before and after pics of our yard through the years...
We live 13 miles from downtown Charleston, SC zone 7.

South carolina will do that .. You have a wonderful set up.

Do you have to buy your soil to do all that? I know florida does.

Thanks for sharing all the pretty photos.. We love them.

i am just lucky

No, I don't buy any of my soil, my soil is just rich and black as can be, I have never added anything to it. I just use a little miracle grown 3 or 4 times a year. It is a shame how much soil came up from that patio, people would have paid good money for it. It's filled with earth worms too.

That would be a hard choice for me - the beach or good soil for planting?!? Just posted a new album some pictures of my yard. I am hoping it will look better in the fall! It will be a nice comparison.

Thumbs upPlant Swap tries to make life as easy as can be.

Try this, sterling;

1. Use the full reply form instead of the quick reply.
2. Click on the paperclip icon (attachments) - next to the smiley face.
3. Use the Browse feature (Upload File from your Computer) to upload the chosen image from your computer
***(I saved the pic of your pool to my computer and uploaded it this way see the thumbnail below).
4. Click Upload, this will insert a thumbnail at the end of your post, which can be clicked upon to view the full-sized version.
5. If you wish to add more than one image, click on the paperclip again, and then click on Manage Attachments.
