Just need to vent...

Some nasty person came through my yard and ripped all of the blooms off of my Canna flowers. They yanked them so hard they broke half of the stalks so they will not bloom again this year.

There, is some people that hate to see

Unhappy

yes Lindy, no deer here in Philly.....all the blooms are scattered around my patio/lawn. They reached over my fence and grabbed the stalks...that's how they broke. They were not like that when I left for work this morning and when I came home, they were all stripped of the blooms....someone did that on purpose. There is a slight slant in the groud leading up to my patio and you can see where they stood b/c the grass is all smashed down...I guess if I had just lost the blooms it wouldn't be so bad, but I am so upset they broke the stems so I have lost the blooms for the year

probably the same kids who lean on everyone's car and throw trash in everyone's yards. I expect kids to pull pranks, but my Cannas have been out there all summer with no drama. I have petunias, gladiolas, and 2 other containers (I have 5 all together plus hanging baskets with the petunias) outside on my porch and nothing has happened all summer until now. Just some bored kids who probably dared each other to snag my flowers. Someone a few doors down has Cannas as well. I was so angry about my own I didnt check to see if hers were still intact. I will check her garden in the morning....

SmileKarma...

Take heart in the fact that their nasty deeds will come back on them three fold. Karma can be a big B. They'll get their payback in time.

Sorry to hear that Lauren. Too bad neighbors didn't catch them in the act.

Guess it's time to put this on your fence:

I'm so mad that your cannas were broken. It infuriates me that people would do something like that to your beautiful flowers.

On a similar subject, I had a huge moonflower vine growing up a column on one side of my front door and someone came over, pulled it up and threw it away (it disappeared on garbage day). I was so mad I wanted to sell the house and move to the country-side immediately... and I'd had a bad day at work as well, so that was a bad day all around.

with empathy,
Lainey

Needing to vent

I know exactly what you all are feeling.Last Thursday my neighbors dogs jumped the fence and destroied 30 of my prized plumeria's and then pushed themselves through the fence taking several pots and plants with them.I noticed what had happened and went in to get my list of the plumeria's that I had and as I came out the neighbor was cleaning up the mess on his side of the fence.I waited till he was done and took pictures then called the police. After that the dog catcher went to talk to him.He came over and acted like he had no Idea about what had happened. That was until I told him how I was watching him the whole time.He then admitted to it and said it was my fault his dogs climbed on his wood pile and jumped into my yard to destroy my plumeria not his.Like I told him it is not my responsability to keep his dogs out of my yard but his.Now I can not locate any replacement plumeria's because of the time of the year. And of course the SOB will mot pay for the damages.

I am so sorry to hear that addictedtoplumeria. I hope you were able to salvage some. I know how hard they are to grow and how long they take to bloom. I tried to grow one once, unfortunately, I killed it, however, your neighbor was dead wrong. Playing dumb and he knew his dog was at fault. That type of thing is so aggravating. Maybe Judge Judy would have a better outcome than the cops!!!

Just needed to vent

I agree just plain acting like nothing happened is very wrong.I am disabled and the plumeria are my way of having something to occupy myself.I do not know why people do not accept responsibility for their pets.I have a German Shepherd and she is trained not to dig or go out side with out one of us.But if she even as little as pooped in someone else's yard I want to know because I am responsible for her and anything she does.My neighbor told us the first time he spoke to us that his dogs are always breaking out and a year ago they plowed through his fence and were running through the neighborhood. He has still not patched the fence and I even gave him the pickets to do it with.He is just plain sorry and lazy.I was told by the police to take him to small claims court because here in Florida there is a state law that says you are responsible for the damage your pets cause.
He came over after the dog catcher went to talk to him and acted like he had no idea.He even threw the pots and what was left of the plants away without even offering to return them.I have been attempting every day to locate replacements for them and some are very hard to find.I probably will have to sue him to get get any money out of him.It is not as much the matter of the money it is the principal of it.

Rod. I hate to say this but if you don't take him to court, it WILL happen again.. This person is obviously not up and up on their moral standards. You need to take him to court to teach him a lesson. Especially since you are handicapped, people are more likely to take advantage of you. I feel for you since this may sour relations between you and him but I'm guessing that things are not good already between the two of you.
