I worked outside today!

Woo hoo, what a beautiful day. Sunny and ~60F.

I mowed the back yard, trimmed and weedeated, pruned and pulled weeds. Good golly, I'm reclaiming my back yard slowly but surely!

A nice week predicted for us in Austin, highs in the 70's and lows in the 50's. Time to get out the shorts again . The reality is that we have another month of trepidation to go - worrying about possible freezes before spring comes for real. Although the weather is so great, I can't think of anything to do outdoors but look at my barren gardens and dream about how nice it will begin to look in a few months. Our St. Augustine lawns shut down for the winter so no mowing or edging needed. I do have a garden plan in mind but waiting until it get's consistently warm enough to implement it is driving me crazy

I am excited that Chargreen has made arrangements for the spring plant swap in Buda - just south of Austin on April 21st. The fall event was lots of fun. It's posted on the swap calendar.

I neglected our back yard late last fall (I was travelling for work quite a bit) just before the St. Augustine went dormant and it got rather tall. It stayed that way all winter until yesterday.

It just felt so good to be working out in the sun again.

Good grief I`d try going out and working in my yard, I`d freeze my tushy off!! Although we`re to have a "heat wave" today and tomorrow. In the 40`s. Plus there`s about 21/2 feet of snow in my back yard!!!!!

This happens every year over here. It feels like Spring for a week or two in early February only to get a strong cold snap killing all the plants that thought winter was over.

... must resist urge to plant tomatos ...

I bought some more miniature roses today in the most unlilely place, our grocery store I have mentioned in previous posts how pleased I was with growing these as part of my landscape in Austin and they were a color I didn't have - white. So now I have red, yellow/orange blend and new white ones. Believe it or not, one pot had 5 rooted plants in it for $2.50. Yeah, I can dig and actually plant something , but that thrill won't last for long.
