PostHello, I'm Interested in Tropical Plants.

This being my first post I thought it appropriate to share with the forum my interest in tropical plants, of both the indoor and outdoor variety.

Currently I live in Canada and as most know it has it's share of cold weather and for the most part I'm only able to focus on indoor plants during the winter months.

But our spring season is great for starting those planting projects. However, it's a bit late to consider planting seeds, but visiting the local plant nursery gives me plenty of options to choose from.

I guess being from Bermuda I was hoping to learn how I could perhaps grow some of the islands plant life here, in particular some of the radiant flowers that grow there.

Although, some how I think investing in a very good green house would be a wise move

I'm glad I came across this forums and look forward to becoming a more active member.

Perhaps there are members here that are familar with these types of plants and could offer advice on the best choices to use around the home?

Thanks.

How do you overwinter your tropical plants. Do you have a greenhouse?

I wish txbeyer

One of the main reasons I haven't tried growing any of the native flora.
Some of my favorites are the Bermuda Passion Flower, the Amaryllis and the Bird of Paradise.

I have been reading some well recomended books and hopefully by this time next year I'll have that green house filled with endemic tropical Bermuda flowers.
