Have you ever??

Was wanting to find out if anyone has ever 'pinched off' a dead flower at a nursey for the seeds?

I'm sure that I would never do such a thing on purpose ...
'cuz that would just be wrong, ...huh?
But I must confess that I do sometimes find the darndest things in my overall pockets. Very mysterious.

Not as one sided as I'd thought it would be..... As tempted as I was, I didn't do it(maybe I should have allowed user's to change their minds) yet. Figured there would have been a landslide of helpers cleaning up for them....

Few more weeks and we'll see?

Does it help to redeem me at all if I tell you
that I also compulsively pull weeds out of the pots at garden centers?

Hey, ya know, that's probably how the odd seed ends up accidently falling into my pocket!

Love lowes

Hey all, Another fan of Lowes here !!!!
I hadnt been in for a few months so i went today and there was a couple racks with CANNAS on them. I paid $4.00 for a $12.00 Tropicanna !!!! I am thrilled to death. I got one that still had old blooms on it and seed pods started.
Hopefully there not too root bound and will come to life for me. My friend got another kind of Canna with blooms too. Hopefully I wil get some seeds to trade in the future.
Just had to share this

I've found a few that fell into the neat little baggies in my pockets!

I'm thinking, if the gardeners worked to grow the plant-I'm paying for the plant-but the seed? They didn't do anything to make the seed. It still needs work to make it grow into a plants and a seed is useless unless its loved.

That works doesn't it Zuzu?

Talking

I'm gonna agree on that! I haven't yet deadheaded any flowers at the store or nursery. LOL But I have however deadheaded my friends and families and parking lots plants! I also have OCD when it comes to pulling weeds that I see in pots at the nursery or store well anyones for that matter. I also pick up stuff that has fallen off the shelf and place it back, the right way.

I've helped the staff clean up

But wouldn't you know it, I didn't get paid for my hard, hard work? Pulling weeds out of pots and dead seeds off the plants is hard work. I've even deadheaded seeds at the doctor's office's before. Never got paid for that either. Oh well.

Guilty

I've done it. Once. Saw a BEAUTIFUL type of mum that was past it's prime and on the clearance rack. It looked so much better after I plucked off the dry, brown blossoms! I'm sure it was more likely to attract a buyer after I cleaned it up. The seeds never sprouted for me, though (God's little revenge, I'm sure). Like others have commented, I compensate by weeding the pots. Good to hear that others are as crazily compulsive as I am!

I'm not reluctant at all to scavenge other places--roadsides, office buildings, friends, etc. I carry envelopes, pill or spice bottles, Altoids tins and snips in my car for collecting purposes. Once I asked a woman throwing a yard sale if she'd share seeds from a humongous pumpkin she had. She took our address and when it was ripe, she mailed seeds to us! Alas, they didn't sprout, but I smile whenever I think of that lady!
