Flower Bulbs & Seeds @ Dollar Tree

My local Dollar Tree [and probably yours] is currently selling all sorts of stuff to put in the ground- veggie, herb and flower seed packs as well as flower bulbs.

I purchased two packs of Gladiolus even though the bulbs looked a bit suspect. But each pack was only $1 and there were six bulbs per pack. Cheap! Plus, several bulbs were already putting out shoots. Why not give them a try? Mine broke ground over a week ago and are doing well.

You won't find this stuff on the Dollar Tree website. I checked. You'll have to call your local store and ask about what they have in stock.

good luck

Hope your glads flower well for ya. My dollar store had them, but I looked at bulbs and didn't look well, so I bought a bag of 40 at lowes for about 10$. Mine are growing but haven't got flowers yet. Good luck with yours.

Cool find ohhmye - and if they happen to be a little under the "Grade A" size,
well, it may take them a season or so to grow mature enough to flower - but at that price, it's worth the wait, right?

I add my good luck wishes to Angie's.

Thanks for the well-wishes, angmf2233 & zuzu!

As to them taking a season or so to grow mature enough to flower, I tend to forget that I've put something in the ground that hasn't blossomed. It's always a delightful surprise when it does.

Usually, with Iris, the mother rhizome sends off babies, or increases. Some make a clump pretty quickly, others are slower growers. When mine multiply, I usually dig a piece of clump and move it to another area of my yard.

Thanks zazinnia

These aren't near the mother bulb at all. they are free standing, wonder if the seeds from the tops of the flowers germinated?

Bali

I bought a cheap peony from Walmart and the 2nd year it bloomed and produced seeds. This year I had some seedlings from it come up in yard nearby, so I dug them up and put in pots. I tried planting seeds in a pot and I they may take all year to grow? I have other peonies are years old and I've never saw seeds on those.
