QuestionFarmers Almanac for 2009....

When will it hit the book store/newstand or whatever internet site has 'em?

I have a really old one from 1972, but I don't think it will be very accurate for next year......

According to the Barnes & Noble site, it's publish date is this month sometime,
should hit the stands before too much longer.

It's one of the stocking stuffers that I give my hubby every Christmas.

We'd be shopping at the local nursey and getting groceries at the local stores. Instead of buying Chinese lead filled toys, and plants that they want us to buy.

I had a small business, WalMart took me out....five other people that worked for me were out of jobs(I think I felt more pain over having to let them go, then me actually having to get a job).

I try to avoid WMart as much as possible, some things just have to come from there sometimes. Lowe's and HomeDepot only get my money when the small town business can't get what I need(that is not that often)-Whit Davis may cost a few pennies more, but I know them and they know me by name.

You didn't offend pooh I just need to get back on my medication.....(don't really need medication----yet) I'm sorry if it sounded like an attack, it sure wasn't supposed to be. Sorry

Scott,
I can relate to your story, except i am one of the employees,we started out a small, friendly little animal hospital in which I am the groomer. Now as I tell this we are becoming a behemoth of a big megaclinic/"resort"/grooming facility.
The small intimate feeling is gone, and I feel sad for the people we are pushing by raising our prices so much,I set my own grooming prices, and they know better than to tell me to go up.I built the business(grooming) and was proud of it..... not so much now.So sad.Thinking of finding another small shop to work in.
I always swore I'd never work for corporate ,quit two jobs when they went that way,I like knowing who I work with and for,and my clients, they want to get another groomer in to help me,I'm booked 2 to 3 wks in advance, and he is afraid they will go elsewhere.Haven't for 7 yrs,but I can't explain it to him.Being the oldest in a job can be trying...
Whew,that feels better,sorry bout the rant,but I do understand.

The smaller, family owned business seem to have a better stake in their customers. There's a nursery we've gone to the past couple of yrs. that has always provided great, healthy plants, wonderful advice and a truly welcoming feeling. They have a great selection and we've never been disappointed by them.

Picked one up at the local grocery store while I was buying groceries yesterday. Spent most of the late afternoon looking through it!

Smile

Start a pizza business..............Those types are surviving in penna...
Everyone loves to work away an not cook at home.
That takes big bucks to eat out...
We make every thing we can at home, and aren't fond of going out.

Grow fruits, veggies, can, bake, make jellys....
And any thing we think of...
The budget is not broken there.
