Today I played in the dirt while Jack kept watch for snakes and things.
We were digging 2 pink spiderwort/tradescantia from the side of the ditch.
(Rich folks have fancy water features; we poor people have drainage ditches!)

We will go back tomorrow to look for another pink spiderwort, and maybe dig up some horsemint.

Lol, you are so right. I've gotten quite a few things from drainage ditches. From canna lilies to cherry trees and anything else in-between. Its raining again so no dirt playing for me today.

Yes, we played in the yard setting up 6 new gardens. Took all weekend, but they are done.

It is hard not to get out & dig in the beds when it starts feeling like spring. I get so excited when I see some of my perrenials coming up. Still watching for the Elephant Ears to make their appearance, but I guess the nights are still a little too cold. I can hardly wait to move all my plants back to the patios outside!

I know I get so excited about planting and my perennials coming up that my boys think I'm crazier than normal, lol. Watching them popping the little heads up out of the ground and putting out buds on the limbs is awesome. I just love it.

When I see the perennials popping up, I get excited and point to the little green stuff growing up through the mulch. Unfortunately, when I point and sat "Look at that, it's growing!" the Jack tries to dig it up.

Did I forget to mention that the 'cue' to get Jack to start digging is to point at the ground?
Guess that wasn't too smart, eh?

Tradescantia hirsuticalus and more...

I left Jack resting at home and took Allie scouting for new plants. We found and potted up several of the pink color spiderwort/dayflowers, 3 glads, 1 palm tree seedling. Allie found some mud to eat. I did spy a white spiderwort/dayflower, but will need the owner's permission to dig that one.

I also tested a theory. I bought pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan) seeds, sprouted them to be sure they were viable, and have just planted 72 potential pigeon pea trees. I did put 2 sprouted seeds in each pot as insurance, so technically it's 144 plants. Here is a link to a picture of the type I planted. I have a quart full of seeds if anyone else wants to give this a try.

Pass the peas, please...

Who ever needs the pigeon peas, please PM me about it.
Also, please forgive me if I have promised anything and not yet actually sent it, with all that's been going on around me; so remind me of that also in the PM.

One small note: the baby billbergia went missing, so whoever was promised that will have to take a much larger pup instead.

And Tess, don't even try to say I promised you a million dollars, cause I would'a remembered that one!!

Is it the pigeon pea tree or the plant? If it is the tree are they still edible?
