Ahh children anyways.

Just an fyi, when your child (or child that visits/lives with you) tries to plant m&ms in your plant, you may want to take care of it right away, as the m&ms will rot and bring unwanted pests to your beloved leaf baby. Such as knats, or dogs. I will admit due to the caring for living things scale (human babies first, fur babies second, leaf babies third) I did unintentionally neglect my tree a little longer than I should have. But i believe he will be okay now that he finally has a fresh clean pot of soil.
And maybe try to explain to said child (in my case a fireball redheaded 3year old middle child) that planting m&ms will NOT grow a chocolate tree. Bless his heart for trying.

Aww, it sounds like you have a natural born grow-it-from-seed gardener on your hands.
