Respect and fear are two different things, and that is what we have to remember.

If it comes down to me or the animal, or my kids...the animal will always be dead first, no doubt.

But to react only by fear and destroy something for no reason is not right.
I will always stand on that.

Always respect what an animal can do to you, even your pets.... but do not react in a harmful manner only out of misunderstanding something. Learn as much as you can and make your decision based on truth and understanding. I don't go out and handle venomous snakes, so Steve Irwin and I cannot be compared. lol ~ I am also not an advocate for save the animals...I just believe there is a right way to handle this and a wrong way.

No harm in that, we can all have our opinions.

Fear is usually caused by ignorance.....
It's very easy to learn which snakes are harmless, and even easier to teach a child. If you kill all snakes randomly you'll be defeating the purpose, you create a vacuum that causes an explosion in the prey population and then, more snakes!
Respectfully,
Mike

I disagree.

People with those intentions have some marbles missing.

I was in the hospital 6 years ago, a nurse on duty came to me and we were discussing snake.

He man had one of those huge snakes in the house in a tank and her and kids were petrified.

One day it got out she hit it over the head with a pick handle and put it away.

That husband in my mind is a clear Nut.

If you all wish to salvage snakes and rats etc.........GO live with them and let us normal folks do our thing.

Okay B, we get it, you hate, hate, hate snakes ... all snakes ... fine.

But, with all due respect, that doesn't make those of us who feel differently wrong,
I'd like to think that we are just as entitled to our opinions as you are to yours.

Is it true?
Is it kind?
Is it necessary?

all I can say is I hope there are more people out there that let snakes live rather than those that chop them up without question....

If it were any other type of animal, humane accusations would be flying all over the place, and I know that to be true. What if we all said squirrels are no good to the gardens, they just raid them too much, so just chop them up?....or ground hogs? or the neighbor's cat?

My opinion for what it's worth is, live and let live BUT..... if any wild animal gets close enough to my home and i think it could harm my family well i dispose of it. And yes i have disposed of a few groundhogs, foxes, coyotes, and snakes. I don't like the idea but my family comes first.

of course pepperdude....I agree. Family and safety comes first, always.

I think we all agree there. This is mostly based on saying to just kill something for no reason just because it's there.

Thanks for adding!!

If I can catch what is digging under our fence to come eat the heads off my ducks it will be dead and I won't think one second about it. We think it is a fox but don't know for sure. 3 ducks in 1 week is terrible!

That is terrible, Dana.

If it is just eating the heads off, (gross) it could very likely be a weasel. That is what we had get in and kill the chickens...and yes, we also set a trap.
If something is harmful....deal with it, remove it, whatever you have to do.

We were told to set a piece of meat onto a rat trap, but we never got anything in it. ...worth a try?? maybe

We ended up putting a hinged door on the chicken coop and every night, we put them inside and shut the door. Everything has been safe ever since.

I don't know what will work for you, but there are a few ideas that may be of help? Good luck
