Rabbits/ground hogs

Has anyone ever heard of planting marigolds around vegetable plants that you want to protect from critters nibbling?

Deer

It works for keeping the deer out of the garden too.

Critter Control

Thanks, that is great info because we have lots of deer too. I think I read about using marigolds in Organic Gardening but when I checked their website I couldn't find the article.

Plants to keep deer out

Sedum also works to keep deer at bay and forsythia. (Fortunately I like forsythia when in bloom and when it isn't.) I'm not crazy about sedum but I'm liking it more and more.

Good luck!

Sedum

I never knew sedum was useful in that way. The problem is we have a veg. garden 50 by 90 ft. and we til it so fencing 0r putting perennials around gets in the way. We til the weeds away during the summer also. Personally I love sedums and have some in 2 other flower beds. There's some great varieties any more.
