Protecting leaves

I saw Janidob's thread regarding her tomato leaves that had foamy stuff on them and reminded me of a remedy my mom used to use for keeping her tomato leaves from browning/blackening/dying. My mom used to sprinkle copper dust on the leaves and this helped save the leaves. Just thought it might be helpful if anyone is having this issue.
