Get rid of a garden rat

Hello,

I have a garden rat (about 6 inches, brown, very very fast) living under the air conditioner outside.

How do I get rid of it?

Thanks,

Swati

get a live trap, the size for squirrels, add some cracked corn and set it up where you see the rat.

I have the same problem.
The rats seem to be quite clever in that they even bother me when they are dead. OR rather it is a case of me not being able to get to them when I do happen to trap them. They get themselves trapped, eat the bait (which I admit is poisonous) then they manage to free themselves and crawl into inaccessable spaces.
All I encounter is an unbearable stench of dead rat and usually in a place where I cannot get hold of them.

Maybe a live trap will work for me.
