So pretty! Love the range of colors you have - I kept changing my mind about which one I thought was prettiest each time a new pic came up, lol! Well done!

Thanks everybody!
Dkline, I used to kill them, too! I finally learned the balance of too much vs too little water. I think that's the secret.

Hi N.O., I'm in Youngsville near Lafayette. I just enjoyed your pretty pictures. I have 2 new ones that I received in trades this Spring that should be hot pink & salmon like yours. I can hardly wait for the holiday season to see them in bloom the 1st time. I've got a white & a red like yours I've enjoyed for years. I just wish they bloomed more often, don't you?

Yes, mine have not weathered this summer very well. I think I have lost a couple.

Very pretty, Cfiegel.

I've been growing these for years in east windows. Love them. Recently too, someone sent me cuttings for Easter cactus. Looking forward to rooting and growing them.

Where are you actually growing your Christmas cacti plants? Under which conditions?

What soil or growing medium do you grow them in?
I lost 2 this year . Could have been from lack of water, not sure.
Anyway I see flower buds on one I bought on sale at wmart earlier
This year.

I find they do best in African Violet soil. It holds just enough moisture compared to cactus soil which dries out too fast. Remember they grow in the wild in niches in tree branches which have rich humus, moist dappled sun conditions.

Smile

Cactus need no special care.
I use plain garden soil......Put them in summer shade,
outside.
Brought them in about 3 weeks ago..Blossoms coming on .
They like being on the dry side as well as being crowded.
Grow good in crowded pots

I have pink red white orange as well as Easter cactus and Orchid cactus.

No fuss plants in my book.
