Some Spectacular Glow of Color

I've been watching this bush come into her own with her blooms these past few days and I think she is just about in full bloom today. Some spectacular glow of color, it's almost unbelievable. I've been growing her for some three years and she quietly sat in the background waiting her turn.to glow, and glow she's doing.

Loropetalum Chinese Var. Rubrum Hines Purpleleaf Plum Delight - what a mouthful of words!

As I came closer, I noticed many buds so she still has more to show.

She is quite the star of the yard at this time! I wish you could see her blooms as my camera really doesn't capture her beautiful 'electric' fushia color.

Thanks Diane! I'm glad you enjoy them. It's another one of my hobbies; capturing or trying to capture the beauty of what I grow.

Thanks bali, good question.
Interesting to learn as well, what colors they come in.
They list colors of pink fuchsia, rose

Dave's garden also lists them growing in red

The red must really be something to see, I've never seen it. There are many varieties of Loropetalum. I'm seeing many blooming varieties in my area at this time.

Thanks Xeo and RiverRock! I wish yall could see her in person. It will also be interesting to see how long the show will be.

Really pretty flowerdazed, actually one of my favorites. I have Zhu-Zhu. I'm hoping it has survived my winter.

I'v always wondered what the name was of his. His is quite lovely. deeka, when yours blooms, please show us a picture. Do you have the tree version?

Thanks swamplady, yeah, a nice touch of color to welcome in spring. Glad you enjoyed the pics!

Beautiful. Wonder if the reason it's taken so long to bloom has to do with sun or shade?

bestofour, well, I guess it could be one of a number of reasons as to the 'why's she has not shown her display until now. I also think I planted her more than three years ago. I do have the pictures going back some three years but I don't think I took pictures for some time. Some of her leaves have 'turned' purple in the past. I have gotten a handful of blooms, (nothing to speak of) in the past. I never feed her but I have trimmed her from time to time. It's just hard to answer that question.

mcole, fear, and barbaralee, thanks yall. Glad you enjoyed seeing and learning about my loropetalum. I can now understand why this plant is also called chinese fringe flower. Maybe I will research propogation since there is plenty of interest. Good trading plant maybe?
