Thanks SadieMae! Glad to hear you will soon have daffodil blooms! I'd love to see your mini daff pot as well. What color did those bloom? Bet it will be a pretty sight when they all bloom.

Oh goody fearadyn, don't keep us in suspense too long okay?

Yesterday another daffodil opened in my garden. More of the same for color but I'm glad I see one in a different location.

Okay daffodil people, let's see them please when they bloom!

I transplanted a lot of daffs last year...the bulbs had been there for years and when I dug into the ground it was just like taking the lid off of a pail of bulbs!!!!! I've been walking around and seeing all the green spikes poke through the ground and have discovered that there were a lot of tulips that I transplanted as well. I think the tulips must have gotten tired of competing all those years because I've only seen a few tulips for several seasons....can't wait to see what I've got! I have no idea what the names are (daffs or tulips)...but I know I've got some daffs that are wonderfully fragrant!

How deep did you bury?
I believe the 'rule of thumb' is 3-4 times deeper that the bulb is tall/high, especially in cooler cimates. Otherwise the bulbs may freeze solid and then may well rot.

I planted my bulbs in containers in October and allowed the fall leaves to sorta surround the containers halfway. The containers full of bulbs got snowed on. My Dad was telling me that the bulbs would freeze then rot- I'm finding these bulbs are quite hardy!
Daffodils- some are just now starting to come up, the tallest started in December!

Tulips-

Scilla-

hyacinths and crocuses-

Muscari-didn't get planted till Jan. 22

I have one container that weathered the winter that hasn't popped up yet, I know they will cause I investigated and found they too are starting to come- I think they are grape hyacinths (Muscari)

yep I'll share. The one container that hadn't started popping up that was planted in october has now started reaching the surface- just one. The scilla started that way and when I watered them last week I discovered the whole container full of stems!

mcole, I can't wait to see what you got too. Sounds exciting.
Please let us know okay?

BFG, thanks for adding info on planting bulb depth.

Oa, skay, very nice! Sounds like you have a very good selection. I would love some of your scillas please. Do you know the variety of scilla you planted? Keep us posted when they bloom please.

Daffodil people, keep us posted please!

Ready for some warm weather!

I'm so glad to see all the daffodils sprouting up. We've had such a long cold winter, I'm ready for spring!

I saw some blooming in a ditch on the side of the road...I think I may have to head out there real early in the morning and dig them up!

Girls, do show your daffodils when they bloom. Doesn't sound too too far off either you will see blooms.
