Good Morning from Louisiana

Hello everyone,

How wonderful to find this group of plant enthusiasts who want to talk about & share plants. I've been a plant swapper for years, but never online! I'm really looking forward to being a part of this forum, and "meeting" you all.

My favorite garden is my wildflower garden; especially perinneals. I'm collecting different colors of yarrow. At present, I have lots of white that I can share. I also have tons of tickseed, AKA Coreopsis. I think I could mail that too after drying the root, and cutting the tops back. Other plants that I can share are wild Verbena (lavender), Shasta Daisy, Daylily (medium coral pink)Crocosmia (bright orange-red), Alstrameria tri-color burgandy, pink, green), Mexican Petunia, & Turtlehead Plant. I may list more later as I look over the garden again. Seed that I can share are: Indian Blanket, Tickseed, Black-eyed Susan, Sweet Pea, Wild Verbena, and possibly others.

Okay....that should be enough to get us talkin', so I hope to get a reply from all you gardening buddies out there.

My grandkids call me Maw-Nature soon to be 69, and very happy to still be able to garden!!

Kind regards to all,
Annette

Red face

Thanks for the welcone, Kancheta......what type plants do you have to swap? I like all perennial wildflowers, and have a great garden going from seed I purchased from Wildseed Farm at Fredericksburg, TX. I just tried to upload a photo of my garden, but I don't see it here....

I am still starting my garden and don't have a lot I could trade by mail right now except cuttings. Let me know if you are interested in some pomegranate cuttings or queen of the night. Be glad to swap you something for one of those. I would be interested in several things you have. Most of my other bulb type things have already gotten too big.

Thanks for writing....What of my plants/seeds would you like to have? You said there were several of them. I'll certainly be glad to share with you; just let me know which ones.

As for your offer, the pomegranate would really take me back to when I was a kid & my mother had one that was loaded with fruit each year. Is the cutting rooted? I'm not too good at rooting, but would like to have one. Also, what is Queen of the Night? Do you have a photo of it posted? I might want a start of that, too when I see it.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you again....

Alstromeria, turtle head and crocosmia are the plants I would like to try. I am starting some new cuttings of the pomagranate this week. I don't think the last ones are going to take. Look under my name in the gallery and there is a picture of the queen of the night. I didn't know what it was called at the time. It is an epiphyllum. They root very easily from just sticking the leaves in the dirt and let them get root bound. They prefer it. They bloom at night and grow crazy foliage. It is a very unusual plant.

Hi Kancheta

Altromeria is in bloom now....just starting; Turtlehead & Crocosmia will bloom later but *may not* after digging them now. That doesn't really matter, tho, because If you can keep them watered well so the root systems can develop they'll be ready to "jump-start" next year. I can get those off to you sometime this coming week, and will send 3 pieces of each. Remember, they spread so put them in a place where that won't matter. Is an even swap on postage o.k. with you?

I will swap these for cuttings of Pomegranate & Lily of the Night. I have a trellis by my garden patio that will be perfect for the lily. I looked at your gallery posts, & saw the picture. Very unusual, indeed.

Your friend,
Annette in LA

Yes, even swap is fine. Send me your address in PM and I will do the same. The strange plant doesn't climb but it sends out all kinds of foliage and long shoots. It needs bright but indirect light and needs to be over wintered inside so you may not want to plant it outside. I will send you 3 of each also and will see what else I can find to add to it.
Thanks,
Kristy
