Thanks Penny! GOE, you are right, after a closer look at my Datura, it is either a double or triple. Look forward to seeing a picture of yours GOE and anyone else.

I think I now have an ID. Datura Metel 'Alba' either double or triple white. What do you think?

Double White. I have seeds for the Double purple and yellow. Have a pic or two in my gallery. Also the single giant white. Here is a link if you all have not seen it. The Datura Purple were Awesome this year. Then they got ZAPPED by jack frost.

Hi pondlady,
I just love all of your various plants!, so very pretty and colorful!
Your daturas are pretty as well. When did your dats begin blooming this year? Would you save me seeds from your double purples, and golds please? If you like, I can save seeds from my double white for you.

Hi GOE,
Thanks! When did yours bloom as well and for how long? LOL, okay, hope you find your pics. Show us when you do.

Other datura growers? Join in.

Mine started to bloom around mid July! The yellows were really slow this year and got zapped by frost in late September. I did save some seeds of both. Send me a PM?

wow pondlady, July? So you were able to enjoy your pretty blooms for a while then. When did you plant your seeds or did they re-seed? I sent you a PM.

pondlady, that is good to know. I'm going to try and get an earlier jump in planting Daturas next spring to see if that helps. I didn't get mine in ground until May this year. GOE, I do see another bud.

Other Datura friends input?

My blooms started late I guess. It was late Sept. I think when they did finally show there blooms..And after that and the seed pods were making,,We had our first frost..I was lucky and got several pods..I still have pods on the dead plant..Will they be good after several frost. The tiny thorn pods are rough aren't they.

And still looking for the pictures..lol.

Prickly things for sure, at least on the white ones. Thorn Apple is another name for them. The Yellow and Purple ones do not have the thorny pods, they are smooth. FYI

I have some Dat seeds of various varieties that I didn't get planted this year. Can anyone give me some general advice on planting and care for the next season? I have all my plants that I brought in for the winter under grow lights. Would it be good to start the Dats under my grow lights about the end of Feb or sometime in March?

trumpetvine, a garden friend recently told me she starts hers with garden heat mats for an early jump. Maybe someone can give you more explicit info.

Anyway, today I saw my last Datura bloom I think. LOL Very cool and wet weather. Tonight expected down to 39 degrees. Burrr, for us anyway.
Here's a today pic of my last Dat for the season.

Double white - she barely hug on, but did!

I throw my dats out with little to top of soil,, little mulch or good compost and dont plant or push down,, they come up like crazy although as i say it wasnt meant to be for 2010 but other years i spread them around,, i should have pics of the whites and angie and flowerdazed do have the mini lefluer lilac daturas,, they are pretty hearty and easy to grow n spread,,dont they, usually they grow all over , spread and live easily,, I guess they love Michigan weather,, can be invasive and hard to catch pods before they pop all over the place and spread..
