An aging shrimp plant

It does me wonders to have my reading glasses on while in my garden.. The other day I spotted my 'hairy golden shrimp' plant.

Pachystachys lutea
that just tickled me.
Then today had the glasses on again and noticed an aging shrimp plant.

See the white hairs?
Justicia brandegeana

Diane, yeah, I guess I should wear my glasses more often, even if they are reading glasses. Saw a little humor in the two plantsand wanted to share.

The golden shrimp plant is called Justicia Lutea
The maroon shrimp plant is called Justicia Brandegeana
thus, two different plants

My favorite is the red one.

I have an adorable yellow shrimp plant MiamiPanda gave me in my very first swap! I didn't notice if mine had hairs though.

Sure would love the blue shrimp, the purple and the white shrimp to complete my collection. Hey, anyone out there wanting to trade what I may have for those shrimp plants listed I'm looking for?

Hey SadieMae,
Yeah, it's one cool plant, isn't it? I had my first shrimp (red) and variegated, for over a year, put it to the side, went thru grooling freeze, and survived. I was so surprised and decided to give more attention to those beautiful shrimp plants! I read they attract hummers, and hummers supposedly LOVE shrimp plants, although I've not seen any hummers in my garden, this year. SadieMae, wondering if you have what they call green shrimp plants? I also have those as well as the Fruit Cocktail shrimp in my collection. Check for the hairs okay?

If anyone is able to share their shrimp plants I would be so very pleased. I had maryataylor send me some cuttings but they are not doing to well. Would love to get a rooted start or seeds.

That is okay, I don't do well with seeds anyway, generally, and would rather the instant gratification in having the plants vs. seeds. Thanks for checking tho.
