1st Asiatic Lily of the season

I also am seeing my first asiatic lily of the season today. A vibrant orange!

That's a beauty! I love red. Mine are just barely getting buds .. this will be my first year with them. I have Star Gazer and Vermeer. Can't wait to see them bloom!

How often do you feed them and what kind of food do they like? Any other tips for growing?

Thanks Xeo! Actually, she is vibrant orange. I feed my daylilies organic bone meal early spring and may feed them again in a few weeks. They are growing in my west garden. I started growing asiatic/oriental and daylilies last year so I'm rather new at this myself. I just googled Vermeer, just beautiful. Show your blooms when they bloom please.

Looks red on my vdt monitor and I see the orange but still looks kinda red on my lcd monitor. I got the two lilies in a trade last fall and was so delighted when they started coming up a month or so ago. You are about a month ahead of me plantwise .. the only things blooming for me right now are honeysuckle, jasmine and roses.

Glad you got two very nice asiatics in your trade! Post your beauties when they do bloom for you! Oh, okay, one month ahead of you in blooms. My seven sisters are winding down, as well as my pink jasmine that bloomed several months ago.

Beautiful FD! I've got a bunch with buds but no blooms yet. Ordered a few new ones this year too. Excited to see them open up.

Hi Sandra, thanks! Sorry yours did not make it, try again dear.

Thanks SwampLady, SadieMae and fearadyn. Yep, that color really does 'pop'.
SadieMae, I'd love to see yours please when they bloom. Looking forward to seeing your newbies too.

A few days back, this little baby showed.

My Vermeer's all have buds .. this is my very first year with lilies .. judging from the size of the buds to the size of your flowers, I've got a long ways to go for a bloom! Impatient here!

Hi Xeo,
Hope your Vermeer blooms soon. Can't wait to see her! I started with asiatic lilies last year. They seem to like where they are living.

Thanks Sandra!
