Plant swap gatherings

I'm going to my first plant swap this Sat. and was wondering should I wait til that morning to dig up and divide what I want to trade or dig the night before and make sure they're potted properly? I'm dividing Irises so I'll wait til morning for them but I'm concerened about the others. I'd like to dig up the Grape Hyacinths the day before and am wondering if they'll be ok in a bag? Thanks!

I would think most plants would be fine dug up the day before. Just be sure to keep them in the shade and/or roots/rootballs moist. Don't overdo it though, watering pots/plants before hauling them to a swap can be messy if they drain in transit (at worst) and it makes them heavier to carry (at best).

One thing I recommend - bring/use a wagon if you have one. Makes hauling the plants soo much easier...

Plant swap gatherings

Thanks for the info. I am so excited, I've never gone to a swap and I want to make sure my plants look their best. I'm hoping there is a great turnout for this!
