WinkNewbie from PA here!

Hi Everyone!

I found this site by accident and can't wait to try!

We recently moved here and I am looking for new and different things for my house.

I have a list posted @ http://www.gardenhere.com/forums/m.a...0&mpage=1&key=

I was hoping to find roses, gardenia's {mine passed away after 9 years}, callas, bat plant, telegraph plant, and anyhting different for a new bonsai hobby.

Will do trade or postage so please tempt me

Thanks for looking!

Michelle

Hi Michelle,
Welcome to plant swap.
I also live in Pennsylvania, and join
about 3 or 4 weeks ago.
I done a google search on the
bat plant and also the telegraph
plant. I never heard them. I like
them, they both are different.
Once again welcome,
Gale

Thanks everyone!

I guess the next question is --what's the best way to get started?

I've tried searching, but it's a little tricky with a 5 month old -- I was hoping to find someone willing to do trade or postage for rooted gardenia. My luck with clippings is pitiful.

Also like anything different for the new house, so please tempt me.

Michelle

I suppose that depends upon what you want to end up with. For example, I just started collecting all kinds of plants at plant swaps and sticking them here and there in my yard. I have an unplanned chaotic back yard full of interesting plants and I love it, but it would probably offend a landscape designer's sensibilities.

If you are interested in a more structured garden, I'd suggest driving around your community (or local nurseries) and seeing which plants your neighbors/stores have that you enjoy and lay out a design for your yard. You can then post requests here for trades for those plants if you like.
