Emerald Coast Plant Show: Milton, FL

Anyone attending the event at the PJC grounds in Milton this year?
I am very much looking forward to it.
I bought a Japanese maple at the 2008 show.
I planted it in my mother's yard a year later.
My mother clipped it down this winter!
It's coming back, but it will never be the same!
So, that's one thing I'll be looking for. A new Japanese maple.

not me, Milton is a little too far away from Orlando, but I am looking forward to seeing pictures of what you are getting this year

I'll take pics at the show of what I want but can't get. And I'll take pics of what I get.
I just got a fabulous Japanese maple yesterday. It's a weeping variety called Red Queen I think.
I actually prefer the green leaved Japanese maples with bigger leaves but this one is a dark red variety with skinny little leaves.
I'll have to get a pic for documentation anyway. lol So I can see how long it takes to grow a foot.

Beavercreek, I do believe it's usually Fri, Sat and Sun. I usually go on Sat, but this year I might go on Fri to get the best selection.

By the way, beavercreek, your daughter is the person who turned me on to this forum! I was searching for some lotus, which she told me you might have.

So, hello!

And, yes, I will take pics.

I bought a native Azalea there last year and it did not bloom this month! I was highly disappointed. So, I'll be hoping for next year.
My Indian Hawthorne didn't bloom either.
What's going on ???

Lamanie.......Did you make it down to the plant sale today at Milton? I may stop by tomorrow if I go that way to Pensacola. Would like one of the Golden Rain trees if there are any. I find some plants at the Pace Flea Market sometimes. I do have plenty of lotus, just don't want to drain the pond enough to get to it. Will trade you some if I can get to it easy. How large is your pond, cause these need a lot of room.

My new pond is about 5X10X3 feet deep. It will be just about lotus only. haha

The plant show is next weekend. The reptile show was this weekend.

I found this on the Santa Rosa Press Gazette website:

Annual Emerald Coast Flower & Garden Festival

The Friends of the Gardens of Northwest Florida, Inc., in cooperation with Pensacola State College, and the University of Florida, proudly presents the fourteenth Annual Emerald Coast Flower and Garden Festival.

This family oriented event will be held April 8-10 at the Milton Campus of Pensacola State College, 5988 Highway 90, Milton, on the wooded and beautifully landscaped grounds of the campus. Monies raised through the Festival support scholarships to worthy students seeking degrees in Horticulture related fields at Pensacola State College and the University of Florida, Milton Campus. A portion of the monies will also help finance projects in the formal and other gardens on campus.

Festival hours are: Friday, April 8, from noon to 5; Saturday, April 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Festival is free and open to the public, and handicapped accessible. Dogs, other service dogs, are NOT allowed on campus.

Event will include, commercial plant vendors, craftsmen and artisans featuring garden-related items, plant sales by partner organizations and area garden clubs; walking tours of UF Test Gardens/Greenhouses/Milton Gardens, Exhibits food booths, etc. Come on out and help us provide scholarships so that others may continue their education.

Oh, glad I didn't go, so afraid of reptiles. I only have the white lotus that's pictured in my album but they are 10 or 12 inches across the flower, dinner plate size with yellow centers. If you're ever up this way, pm me and we will give you a garden tour. Be nice to have a plantswap buddy that I can actually meet.
