For some reason I had forgotten all about statice. I used to grow it for years. Some of the Russian statice is perennial, but are hard to find. The annual is the most common. It is a 1to2foot plant with many variations of colors and makes a grand dried flower arrangement. The Russian is the only one that has to have the seed covered with soil. Plant the seeds in area with indirect light at around 70 degrees. Pick out the young plants when they have two pair of true leaves, and gradually introduce them to sunlight.
When grown on they like bright sun, sandy neutral soil, and are quite drought tolerent.
I've been trying to think of plants that will do good here in Fl. , and they would be perfect.

Come to think of it Strawflowers would also fit the bill for my area. Both are normally planted in early spring where they are to grow, but can be started in flats.

Happy gardening.
