Questionpurple hyacinth bean

Just rec'd some of these seeds, put a couple in to soak. can I start indoors then move outside? I have noticed on some seed packs certain plants do not like to be transplanted, I'm just trying to learn the tricks. Will these take off and grow like morning glories, wildly, will I need to keep them under control? I had morning glories where I used to live and they crawled all up in a huge lilac bush and got on everything.Help newbie..

They grow fast once they find something to climb. They are pretty hardy in my experience and should do fine with a transplant.

Hey. I just started 44 peat pots with Hyacinth Bean Vine. I started them outdoors so that there would be no need to harden them off. I soaked them 24 hours in a shallow pan and planted 3 seeds per cup for good measure. Almost all have sprouted and have at least one set of true leaves after only two weeks. The one plant sprouted in an afternoon and had two leaves by the next day mid-morning! They do grow fast. coachG here on the site had them growing on her porch rail last year. She gave me some of the seeds that I planted.

I'm not sure I that have any beans left. I need to check. It's been a couple of years since I last grew the vine on my arbor.

I grow these also. They are one of my favs, but I got a lot of favs. They do grow fast and will reward you with plenty of seeds for next year and trade. I have given all my seeds away this year. But will have some next year.

That is a beautiful plant. I am trying my hand at scarlet runner bean this year. Never grown it before but was given some seeds from one of my friends last year. I am so hoping they grow. If mine grows, I can get some seeds from it. Maybe someone here who is growing purple hyacinth bean could trade seeds with me. Just a thought.

Oh I love vines. My problem is the number of trellises (sp) that I need. I just bought a large trellis from an auction site near my home. I have 3 vines ready to grow on it but still need more. LOL We took our fence down last summer, so no fence to grow vines on either. I am thinking of putting lattice up for some to grow on. Hubby has been talking about making me one but we own a semi and he is gone most of the time. He really doesnt have time to do that for me. Although, it was a really nice gesture. The metal ones you can buy are so expensive. But I keep planting vines anyways. LOL

I think they are gorgeous! I would love some seeds if and when any are available.

I planted 3. When they got about 4" long, I transplanted into the ground and the blackbirds tore them up in less than a day.

SO...

Time to do some more. I got about 6 more seeds. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

And WOOHOO!!! This is my 100th post. LOL I'm now a Blade of Grass!! hehe
