Planting daisies in the fall

I just purchased some daisy seeds and I couldn't wait. I decided to plant some inside. Is it possible to transplant them outside in the fall, or should I wait till next summer?

I also have a lilac that I took from a bigger bush and I'm wondering the same thing. Anyone knows?

The daisy depends on what type it is. If its an African daisy, it is an annual and will just die in the winter-better to save for planting in the spring. If it s a shasta daisy, that is a perennial and as long as it gets adequately adjusted to the outside environment before going dormant, it should be fine to reappear next spring. If you can get the lilac to root, I would wait until spring to plant outside. Or you could try in the fall, if you have a long fall season and the roots are well established. If it dies, contact me-I'll get you lilac starts with roots that are aclimated outside and will be great to be planted in the fall. Even if you decide you just want more starts, just LMK. They do much better in the cooler weather being transplanted. Even mine from this spring are growing very slowly with this heat. If you were in a cooler zone-it wouldn't be as much of a problem. We'll get you hooked up with some lilac one way or another-they sure are a sweet smelly flowering bush aren't they?

I was thinking you were in zone 7 but you're in Ohio-I wonder why it got too hot for your first lilac bush? It shoulda been fine in June. You could put this one out in early September with a good root system and it should do fine. Or LMK if you want mine-they are used to the sun and 100 degree heat so they would probably thrive in Ohio!

Thank you both for being so informative and generous!

I have looked at the daisies this morning and they are sprouting. *keeping my fingers crosses taht they will grow big and strong*. As for the lilac, it is in a pot, inside, doing good so far.

Tho, if I have any problems, I will definatly tell you. Those two plants remind me of my childhood and I just have to have them!
