| Yes I'm growing this plant this year - Lotus maculatus 'Amazon Sunset' (Parrot's Beak). It has feathery, silver-grey foliage and a creeping or cascading growth habit. It's good as a spreading ground cover or in a hanging basket or for hanging over the edge of a container. The unusual orange and yellow flowers, which really do resemble the shape of an upside-down parrot's beak, are already beginning to diminish in number here, as our over night temperatures are now staying up in the 70s. It was flowering much more heavily earlier in the spring, when the nights were cooler. As my temps continue to rise, it will probably stop flowering for me altogether, but the soft silver-grey foliage is still beautiful. This is a sub-tropical plant and would probably only be winter hardy in zones 9 and up. I have mine in a location that gets sun until about 1 pm - I may have to move it into less sun as the summer progresses. ![]()

| Just bear in mind that Mother of Thousands is in the Kalanchoe family, so if you have grown other Kalanchoes, and brought them into bloom, it will like similar conditions. They all seem to bloom best for me if they are somewhat pot bound and get plenty of bright light. Also, it is important to remember that all members of the Kalanchoe group are toxic, and you should be especially careful with this one, which sheds those baby plantlets from it's leaves if you have children or pets that might pick them up and put them in their mouths.
