What a wonderful memory! We had a ton of the regular orange daylilies where I grew up. No irises though. Those daylilies will just keep going forever won't they??

Those are beautiful! Can you imagine those planted by the 100s!!

Angie, must be a sight.... your driveway.... and all the more special because it is wrapped with fond memories of family!

I tend to be more drawn to the daylilies for some reason, which is probably a good thing, since I think I'm more apt to find those for my zone!

Same here miamipanda, daylilies loooove where I'm at.

GT, that's odd-I know of at least one place in northern Florida that grows and sells daylilies. Or are you talking about the irises...?

Iris and daylilies

I just LOVE daylilies and iris. I am trying to collect more iris that rebloom in the fall. Do you guys have any that do that. I have Clarence, and Immortality.

I cross dls but haven't tried iris yet.

I added STARTLE last summer so it will be a new bloom for me too. Love, love love dls.

I wish I had know the importance of maintaining the names of plants when I started. I have a lot of tulip varieties but didn't keep track of the names. I love daylillies and irises too and am hoping to add to my collection of them. Like others, I have special memories attached to some of them, such as the giant purple and white bearded irises that come from my mom's yard in Massachusetts.

Yes, I have special plants that were gifted many years ago that were from friends and family that have passed away. I don't have them grouped together in a Memory Garden but I have heard of some that do.
