Nope not at all, they need the winter cold or cold stratification in the fridge to be able to sprout.

I did this in Jan because you can start them indoors and that month is usually a low point for gardeners. It just gave us something to do and learn while we waited for spring to get here

Usually if someone hosts a 'growout' it will be near that time of year.
