a couple questions about clematis and trumpet vine

Here we go again. LOL I have some more questions. I have a clematis and a trumpet vine. My question is this, do these bloom continually? Or only at certain times? Thanks in advance for your answers.

My clematis blooms all summer. Some only bloom early and some later. Another thing interesting about clematis is that the roots need shade and the blooms need sun.
The trumpet vine-at least the semi-wild orange ones usually bloom mid to late summer and continue blooming until it gets cold. Im not sure about the hybrids.
Hope it helps.

Thanks for answers

Thank you for your answers. Bali, I have HF Young clematis and its budding right now too. It gets purple flowers on it. No blooms yet but they sure are pretty flowers. I have the orange trumpet vine so I'm guessing what you said is right, Donna. I sure would like to have a red one too though. I"ve been looking around here for one to buy but havent seen one yet. Thank you both for your answers.

can anyone tell me if a clematis breaks off on the "growing" end is it done for the season? My husband was shooting some baskets and it seems the ball hit the plant and snap the end off.

The clematis depends on what category it falls in. Some are only spring bloomers, others are late spring thru summer. The trumpet vine is a summer bloomer.

Then I must of seen the trumpet plant in the summer......
My neighbor has some on a rail fence and it looks nice. Hers doesnt get so large.

I notice your from Penna......Is that in eastern part of the state? I am western....The cold part...only 54º today here.. EEk

I like it about 65=-70º

Guess I should rest, but I am the nervous type who has to do something. I just finished making a rectangular (plastic ) pot filled with coleus plants that I germinated .. Only a few inches tall right now.......Will be better by may end.

Hi!
Yes I'm from the eastern part, I don't know if you ever heard of the Lehigh Valley. We are about 60 or so miles from Philadelphia. I can't say it's overly warm here either. It's 62 out rt. now.
I love this site. I found it by accident on another post called This garden is illegal.com. It's great to be able to chat with others who love the same thing!!!

We are rural. It is a beautiful area. We are surrounded by farmlands, our part of the street the lots are 1-2 acres. We also have state gamelands close by. Lots of deer!!! Unfortunately some of the farms are starting to suddivide and more and more houses are popping up. When I first got married and moved here it was a shock to my system because grew up in Bethlehem, a small city. There's no streetlights out here and if we lose power, we lose our heat and water because we have a well. No CVS's every 5 blocks, no Hallmark stores, few stores at all. Now I wouldn't live any other way, I love it!
I saw on one of your posts that you also grow strawberries? I don't know if you can help me but I notice our plants aren't as full as they were last year, almost as though not all came back. the plants are only 3 yrs. old, I wonder what happened?

Perhaps the lack of rainfall ...If you have a dry season.. Mine are on the 2nd year , so far looking good.. We moved them to a different spot.. Some years it has lots of foilage an no berries......
They are unpredictable . Or it maybe the type .. i arent a pro on those.

I do grow veggies as well.
