Carrion plant?

My neighbor gave me a few plants recently. I thought this one is a carrion cactus but when I googled it, it doesn't seem so. This little plant is so cute, even the terra cotta pot he has it in. I was delighted to get it.

I'm showing it from afar as I want you to see how thin and petite the cactus is.

It was in bloom when he gave it to me yesterday. Even the flower is sooo cute and petite. I would say the flower is the size of a dime.

He called it donkey tail cactus. When I googled it, that is not what it is.

A piece fell off including a second bloom further down the cactus.

Name please? Discussion on it as well would be great!

Oh I know what they are, not sure of the name of the small maroon flower, but the big one is giganteum stapelia. I like the ones better with large flowers.

Hi MR
Girl, I already potted the piece up and snapped a pic as well.
It would be the second pic I showed. I waste no time huh?

The little plant has a bloom at the base of the plant, then it had one along the dangling part which fell off.

That was so sweet of my friend to part with that cute little hanging plant. I met him thru a classified flower/plant ad YEARS ago. He is so cute as well and I admire his tenacity as he is 84 years old caring for his pretty garden everyday!

This plant is so compact and small and I'm surprised what has grown out of it yet it is a small petite plant. He also has the soil seriously packed down. I'm not too sure how to care for it and I certainly don't want to loose the plant. Suggestions?

Faeriebritches, I know about the huernia, i'm talking about the one that has the larger maroon flower and is not a huernia or whatever lol. bloom is 4 inches, huernia isn't even quite an inch. I do have a couple needing an ID that came from ebay, and TLC greenhouse in oklahoma city.
