New member from North LouisianaI am new to Plant Swap. My name is Renne' and I just moved to a new house with no existing landscaping. I am now disabled and can no longer work so I have rediscovered my passion for gardening. I do not have anything to trade at this time but I will have in the future. If anyone has anything extra I would appreciate it greatly. I am starting from scratch and hoping for the best!! Thanks in advance for any help! Thanks! Renne' |

Hi RennePI'm Annette , also from northern LA....Monroe, to be exact. Where are you located? I'd like to know if you have any particular plants in mind to start your landscaping with as I might be able to help you out. Have you completed your profile where these would be listed? Hope to hear from you soon on the forum, or VIA private email ahshelton@comcast.net Regards, Annette |

| Hi Annette! I live north of Farmerville. I grew up in Swartz . All of my doctors are in Monroe and West Monroe so I am in town regularly. I do not have my lists done yet because the weather has made it difficult to get online. We have satellite internet because we live out in the boonies! Bad weather equals no signal--but gosh we need the rain. I will work on my lists today and I will let you know when I complete them. Thanks in advance for any help. Thanks, Renne' |

Wow!!Hello again, Renne, I couldn't believe it when you wrote that you grew up in Swartz! I've lived in Swartz since 1962, and taught school there from 1970-79. If you'd like to share more about yourself, we might find a connection from the past! lol Of course I know where Farmerville is, and wish you all the best in your new home there. Since you come to Monroe/W.Monroe to your doctors, we must plan to have lunch together one day. I'm retired, and could meet you most any time except Thursday AM. We'll talk plants when we get together. Your friend, Annette in Swartz |

Will keep you in mindRenne, I will definitely keep you in mind as I go about my gardening. If you'd like to send me your address (private message it to me), I'll send you care packages whenever I'm pulling something out. I tend to have a lot of grape hyacinth--they seed themselves AND develop new bulbs. I also have lots of phlox and in the fall, I'll have seeds from all kinds of things. Any interest in quince? I pulled out a bush two years ago but I still get little quince shoots popping up. I can dig it up for you and it would eventually be a nice-sized shrub. Mine was probably about 5' tall and a good 5' feet wide. Lovely pink flowers in the spring and fruit later on. Birds LOVE it--the thorns keep them very safe when they nest in there. Just put it somewhere where you won't brush against it or have to prune it too much (picking up thorny branches after you've pruned is no fun). But then, you probably know all this. I get carried away. Send a PM with your address if you're interested. Diana Lynn |
