| Hi and welcome to the Forum. Don't get too cozy with some of those plants you listed in Panama City. You are subject to freezes even there and key limes, plumeria, grapefruit, and some lemons would need winter protection in your location. I grew up in Sarasota and have lived in most areas of Florida at some time or another from Key West to Tallahasee (go Noles!!). I remember it getting down to 10 degrees in Tallahassee one year. OK, that's an extreme and unlikely scenerio, but do be careful about planting plants that are too tropical for your area. Consult with your local Extension Office for some recommendations. If you have a greenhouse of any sort, you can do well with almost anything however. Good luck with gardening in your new location. http://www.southeasttexasgardening.i...tgulfcoast.jpg This link shows your cold hardiness zones for the Florida panhandle. Yes I have a greenhouse and I will get intouch with the local Agricultural office but I do not know how much help they will be because I attempted to report a person here in Florida who sent me infested plumeria cuttings that were full of insects and worms. They never returned my calls or emails. But I look forward to enjoying Florida and this group .Thank you for for the information and the welcome. |

welcomeHi addicted2plumeria, Welcome to plant swap. I love plumerias also, I only have two at this time, but I will be getting more. One of the gardeners here was nice, she traded me some plumeria seeds for some other seeds that I had. So I will be trying my had at growing plumerias from seeds. Once again welcome Gale |

| Speaking about Plumeria, my best performer has been Plumeria pudica - it has been full of blooms since spring, is easy to root from cuttings at any time of the year unlike other plumeria that only root in early spring, and the foliage is really nice. Hope you are growing that one in Panama City. Photo gallery link below.http://www.plantswap.net/photoplog/index.php?n=65 |

| In fhe FL panhandle, you should be in Zone 8b/9a, same as SE Texas. Look at some of the plant recommendations I have on my website at www.southeasttexasgardening.info for Gulf Coast, not Central Texas. Hopefully there may be some helpful recommendations for you there. Such an openended broad question is very difficult to answer because the possibilities are so numerous. |
