| OH yes, I remember seeing these on display at the National Botanical Garden in D.C. Actually, it's a type of Chrysanthemum and truly unique in appearance. |

| Let me confuse you some more.......There is a spoon leafed flower form of a chrysanthemum, but the flower pictured as an avatar matches the reference below. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/308/ According to this site and picture, the flower is an Osteospermum cultivar. Osteospermum is a member of the Aster family. THey are all composites (Mums, Daisies, etc.). Daisy is a common name that has no botanical identity of its own. Flowers from many different genera are called daisies because of the physical appearance of the flower. According to Wilkipedia, "One of the most popular cultivars is Osteospermum "Pink Whirls", which features purple to lavender-blue "spooned" petals around a blue disk. It is an evergreen subshrub with green, somewhat glossy, lanceolate opposite leaves. It grows to a height of 40 cm. At night or when it is getting colder, the petals close." Love researching and learning about plants on the internet. |

If you hit the name and check her profile...You can see that she doesn't post very much anymore. She's probably busy doing life. The post is date last year. You may be able to PM her and if her email is linked, she may respond but it is doubtful if it has been a long time since she has frequented the site. PS-Does anyone know how Lindy is doing with her new baby? She's still on my prayer list and I haven't seen her post. Can't imagine why she's not abbying online with us gardeners (heehee!). Just wanted to make sure baby joined us safely. -Donna |
