Hardy Oranges - Two typesI have both the common Hardy Orange, and the Flying Dragon (Contorted version) The Contorted ones are seedling grown, and will exhibit varying degrees of contortism as they grow. The parents of these are in Washington, D.C. The Hardy Orange upright ones are also seed grown, from an OLD plant growing in northern Massachusetts. Talk about hardy! (In fact, I am highly curious to see if anybody knows of one hardier than THIS mother plant. I am Zone 5b.) These are well started seedlings from this spring. A couple may be from last fall - I won't pick through them for you. They have fragrant white flowers, followed by ping-pong sized FUZZY fruits! Best for marmalade as the fruits are bitter, and packed with seeds. I'll trade these for rooted tropicals or other types of trees that are not dormant. My average trade will be 5 regular, or 1 of the Flying Dragon. |
