Clematis from Seed?OK here goes. As I don't grow much from seed and I don't really know too much about collecting the seeds from plants I'm not really sure if what I found are seeds. I was looking at my clematis and noticed a very fuzzy looking "flower" on the plant and pulled it off. Well at the end of each little fuzz was a sorta tear-drop shaped "seed". Is it a seed - I don't know because I have never planted them from seed (always buy them at the nursery-and this year got them for $1.00 at Lowe's). Anyway, I ramble. I think the plant was a purple flower can't remember because I have planted several different colors to climb the same post. If someone would like the "seeds" to try and see if anything grows PM me and I will mail them out.

| LOL...I know exactly where you are at!! My Buddha Belly plant bloomed and I think there are seeds, but am not really sure. I saved them and am going to try to plant just to see. I also have a passion vine that is about to have several blooms and I have not the slightest idea of how to get seed from it, or even what to look for. I can't help ya Gardeningmom...but I say we plant our "seeds" and see what comes up!

| How to Collect Seeds From Clematis Clematis is a beautiful climbing plant with attractive flowers. There are more than 294 species of clematis and they come in several colors. There are a couple of things you should know to collect the seeds from a clematis. Viable seeds are visible in the seedhead, so if you can't see them then they are not ready. Once you have identified the seedhead, here is how you collect the seeds. InstructionsDifficulty: Easy Things You’ll Need: can for collecting seeds Step1 Old Man's Beard Identify the seeds. You can tell when seeds are ready when the plant takes on the characteristic "Old man's beard" look. When the seeds are dark brown and dry, they are ready to be collected and can be stored safely. Step2 Clematis seeds Once you have identified your dark brown seeds, collecting them is easy. Take your coffee can and place it under the seed head and gently pull the seeds away from the pod. Drop them in your can. If the seeds do not fall easily with a gentle pull, they are not ready to be collected. Step3Store you seeds in a ziplock baggie in a dark place outside during the winter or in the refrigerator.
