It is an eye-catcher. The white ones are almost as striking. You`ll find it in the photo gallery under "G" for Gram!!

Sorry I couldn`t find the white ones picture I had taken. Would you settle for a smaller lavendar one? Not near as beautiful as the other photo but still pretty. Again look in photo gallery under "G" for Gram.

Folks, I think I see a conflict in plant identification here. Cats Whiskers is a common name used for several completely different plants. The photo posted shows the white Bat Flower (Tacca integrifolia)
There is a black Bat Flower also.

One can see easily why this might be nicknamed cats whiskers.

The plant most commonly called Cats Whiskers is the one I think Gram is referring to - comes in white and lavender blooming forms. (Orthosiphon aristatus)

http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/2085/index.html

If you do a google search using the botanical names given above, you will find many sources for them.

Common names are very inaccurate and confusing as I am seeing in the various posts on this subject of Cats Whiskers.

OK, Gram has just posted a picture of yet another plant using the common name "Cats Whiskers' which is neither of the two I identified in the previous post. This one is known as "Spider Plant" most commonly, and is a hybrid of the genus Cleome. See what trouble using common names causes - this is why I go for the botanical name - there is only one true name for each plant and it's the dreaded botanical name. Some common names are distinctly associated with a specific plant, but there are so many that are used for multiple plants causing all kinds of confusion. You all are probably gonna hate me for being so picky, but confusion on plant names just drives me crazy

Just a reminder about USPS mailing considerations when sending/receiving seeds/plants to/from foreign destinations.

Sorry, I prefer to swap in the U.S. too much of an ordeal to ship over seas.

Cat Whiskers feyex

feyex,

You have these plants for sale? Not swap? This site is "Plant Swap" where plants and seeds are exchanged, not sold.

Cat Whiskers at Lowe's

Hi,

Which kind of Cat Whiskers did you buy at Lowe's? Is it like the lavender one that Gram posted in her gallery at Plant Swap? Or one of the more exotic ones?

Please let me know if you don't mind.

Cheers,
Annette in Monroe
