| Orthosiphon stamineus.....cat whiskers.....were you wanting to trade or are you looking for a nursery to buy? Grandma had a white one...it was an eye-stopper when it bloomed. I wish I had taken a cutting and rooted it in water for myself but back then I wasn't too much into plants. |

| The plant I am looking for (Cat wiskers plant) is Orthosiphon Aristatus, from the Lamiaceae family. It is also called Java tea and Kidney tea plant and is native to SE Asia. Here is a picture. Unni ![]() Other link for this: http://www.aces.edu/dept/extcomm/new.../may17a01.html |

trading for Jasmine..
I have the yellow Jasmine that is a vine. I can dig a piece up at the end of March. What do you have to trade for it? My herb book says Java tea is good for kidney stones. Sorry I misread your post.....you have Jasmine and can use it to trade. I thought u were saying you wanted to trade for Jasmine. Still am looking for the cat's whiskers plant....I want to make the Java tea for Grandpa's kidney stones. Last edited by Sunny_1; 02-10-2007 at 02:09 PM. Reason: forgot to add........ |

| Unni, thanks for providing the botanical name - that leaves no doubt about the plant you are seeking. This old time favorite is indeed difficult to find in any plant place so finding a gardener who is growing it is the best way to search. I grew the white flowering form a few years ago and find it to be pretty invasive and ultra fast growing. The lavender form I never have found. It is a really tender plant but the blooms are prolific and fascinating. Good Luck on finding it. Sorry I can't help at this time. |
