TalkingCacti-succulents?

I am into cacti and succulents right now. You have to admit that they are easy to get "hooked on" LOL-sorry. Anyway, I'd like to trade for seeds, cuttings even small plants. I hope that I have some plant or seed that you might like. I do have a few starts of green Jade and some sort of Hiwathia-a little dwarf aloe-I don't think it's a rare one though. A few cobweb sempervievum pups. I have some pups off of a mystery cactus that never gets very big. (8 inches tall about) And a few pads off my winter hardy cactus that had 36 blooms last year!!! It is supposedly spineless. It's not, I always manage to find a few spines. It is less spiny than most prickly pear cacti though. Anyway, contact me if your interested in a trade, maybe we can work something out.

Do you have the Prickly pear (opuntia)?

I have some low growing opuntia that are tiny from seed or if you are growing outside, I can send you some pads if you'd like. They have yellow flowers after a few years-already bloomed this year here in OK. I had some in Michigan too so its not necessarily only an indoor in cooler zones. They just need to be sheltered with a brick wall and covered with leaves in the winter. Mine was on a southern wall in MI. Its an awesome cactus. I have some others I'm planning to get seed from this summer as they are flowering currently. PM me if you're interested.

ps-"hooked" cute-except when you don't have tweezers!!!(hee hee)

I'm a sucker for succellents too!

My favorite is the jade. I'm lucky to have a decent sized Jade (two feet tall) in my front room. Most of my other plants are pretty small but I'll take some pics this week and post them to see if you want to trade (varieties of crassula, living stones, black rose, etc.). A favorite source of mine is http://www.gosucculent.com/frontpage_index.html I grabbed a bunch of living stones and they've been doing quite well. Just be careful whenever you receive a new specimen... you have to watch out for the evil mealybugs! They are voracious little buggers.

That is an awesome site for succulents, but $11 for two little plants for shipping was way more than I was able to choke. Do they send them in dirt? That's the only want I could see justifying the price. I did learn alot about the various succulents and cacti. It was fun to pretend to shop anyway! Those living stones are pretty neat.
I got your PM and will send you the opuntia bare root. It won't cost me nearly as much to send. Hope you like it.

Yes and Thank you!

Donna: I did get the cacti. Thank you so much! I'll take a picture of the little gathering I made in a clay pot when I get a chance. I just planted some seeds and I'm saving the extras for your seed swap. I'll get that in the mail this week!

Trader Rating

I trust they are doing well-I know I sent some good starts and you realize they will grow in connections as long as you want them too but this is not the tall variety. It more of a "cactus bush" rather than a "cactus tree". Next spring I will have seedlings from the opuntia that is tall. It flowered this spring so I will be putting the seed in the fridge and then planting.
Anyway-up in the right hand corner of this message is an "ITrader" score. The number is highlighted-mine says 21 when I wrote this. It is like an ebay feedback score. If you click on that and on the next screen click "leave feedback of ok_nurse" I would appreciate the feedback. If I can pick out a seed from those you send in exchange for the cactus-I will also leave you a feedback score. Then people will know that you are ok to swap with cause you do your end of the bargain. If you are doing postage for a plant-you are not a buyer-you are still a swapper and as long as you pay for the package, they should be leaving you feedback with a note that you paid postage. In the comment should be something about the plants or postage.
I'll try to PM you when I have some new cactus to share.

I peeked at your cactus flower pictures, it's very beautiful.
I can tell you that it is an Epiphyllum, there are hundreds of named hybrids.

You can start new plants from cuttings pretty easily,
especially if they are already forming roots as yours is.

It looks like you are already doing a fine job with it,
but if you are interested in a bit more info, check HERE.

OH well that's not what I guessed at all, is it?
Sorry, I really thought it was an Epiphyllum, but I'm always happy to learn something new.

Well, it's certainly a beauty.
