Bird of Paradise - Who wants some?I just divided up my huge orange/blue Bird of Paradise, and they are taking up tons of space. I'd like to see them go. The roots were damaged in the dividing process, and as a result, the rootstocks are very small but they will start growing back very quickly. (I have done this many times before.) The leaves are 4-6 feet tall. I can get them into a large triangular long box for shipping. Only one will fit in a box. I may have to cut off some of the longer leaves. So, who wants some? This is a rare chance to get some huge ones. |

Hey thereHow are you? Seeds can take up to 6 months to germinate, and then about 3 years before they even start to resemble a B of P plant. If you want some instant gratification, feel free to get back to me down the line! Jude |

Hey debSomething that doesn't take up this much room LOL I'm open to ideas and offers. Your "have list" looks pretty extensive, on the outdoor plants. How about indoor plants? And the Hostas you will have later - are they named varieties? Thanks! Jude |

| Instant gratification isn't an option for me because I will be relocating overseas and can't take any plants with me so I'm just "practicing" with seed now. I will be shipping off any seeds I actually sprout to my friends here at PlantSwap before I go. Right now I'm watching my lil desert rose (adeniums) and just loving them. Actually, I've found a new love in seed because I know I helped them grow up from itty bitty seed. Sorry, I didn't mean to highjack your thread-sounds like you have a lot of interest in the bird of paradise. Maybe if I get my rose colored BoP seed to sprout you may like to have them when I leave. Of course, if it takes 3 years for them to grow big and beautiful, that may not be appealing to you. From what I understand, you've spent many years accumulating what you have though, so I may be wrong! ~donna |

Hey thereSorry to hear you will have to give your plants up before too long! And don't let me fool you - I come across plants in all different ways - including here, so it isn't the work of "many years." I, too, just discovered the joy of growing seeds into something big - just this year, actually. I love seedlings, but unfortunately, I still kill them when I keep them indoors. I sprouted many seeds this year outdoors, and they did awesome! I'd definitely be interested in some of your stuff when you offload them. Heck, I'll even mail you stuff to your new place! SHHH!!! ![]() |
