Azaleas & southern magnoliaI'm looking for about 5 white azaleas and 3 SOUTHERN magnolias. Does anyone know where I can get them cheap? I'll even take small. I don't mind watching them grow. I know that I can go to some of the nursery's around here and get them...but you never know who may have them in their yard ready to get rid of them. I'll take any other colors of azaleas people want to get rid of too. My only request is that they keep their leaves all year. I'll be planting them underneath some pine trees - they will get lots of sun and water but will be blocking our house from the main road view (and car lights at night). |

| Yes, they are perinneals. They bloom every year. I have pink/red ones that are 15-20 years old that are no more than 4 feet tall/4-5 feet wide I have a white one that is >20yrs old that is almost 6 feet tall/4-5 feet wide and blooms the biggest white blooms every spring. I live in Zone 7 and my Azaleas are great! Never had the first problem with them. The white one will lose just a few leaves during the fall/winter months, but stays green mostly. |

azaleasAlpha Dog - thanks but this past weekend I got about 13 white azaleas from a friend of mine. She has a older home and the azaleas had never been cleaned under....yep, I found plenty already rooted. I have never tried rooting from a cutting. The best way is to take a long branch that is close to the ground - don't cut it off, scratch the bark off of the branch about 6 inches away from the end, put the scratched part back in the dirt and place a rock over it. In the fall, it may take until the spring, you should have roots. Then just cut the branch between the big azalea and the new roots. You've got a new plant!!! But thanks anyway. I got other colors but it was mostly white that I got. |

Pond waterDonna, Take some of that pond water and put it on the azaleas. It should have some acid in it that the azaleas would love. I'm supposed to get two magnolia's in the mail soon. Please check - when you can - to see if you have any baby's in your yard. That would be great. I would like one more...I'll send you return postage. Let me know. Mary Lynn |
