I'm not sure what all

I no there are lots of seeds they say to plant in the fall since they need to over winter for some reason. I have a bunch that I had ordered and when summer hit, I read the seed packs and they say plant in fall. One I no I just got is a red hollyhock, and also a apricot and I'd have to look in my seed box at all cause I'm not sure. I'm very far from knowing lots about these things, but am trying to learn more. When I first started I thought ya just threw seeds in the ground and buried them, as time goes on and I actually read seed packs, some need light to germinate, some you should soak first, some need the cold chill process. So far thats about all I can tell ya.I'm still a beginner.

I have some that have to be chilled too,I'll see what I have and get back to ya.
My dog Sallie caught a rat last night and it bit her on her lip, going to take her to work today to have Doc check her out.She has been pouting,I think she's mad cuz she worked so hard to get it,and I did some kind of crazy dance and took it away from her.LOL
I live by a river, and the river rats and squirrels drive the dogs nuts gettng bird food and water..
I was reading about winter sowing, I'd guess it the same thing as chilling the seeds.I did read on some packets I just got that they had to be stratified, meaning chilled?Nicked?

I see you are in zone 8,stuff that needs the cold does it work there? Can you grow bulbs like tulips, daffodils?I am in Pa. and we can get cold and snow, so as far as that goes I am not familiar with your planting, heck I'm just learning my own. I'd love to trade seed with ya, just will need ideas of what will work. Like I hate to sound dumb, but can you only grow tropical plants, or cactus? Help me out please.

Fall seed trades

I'd love to do this swap. I'll check my stash and see what I have. I know I just harvested something that needs fall planting.

I have Chives and Alaska Shasta Daisy seeds available for swap (interested in anything that will grow in zone 4a). I might have other items...depends on how the seed harvest goes...

My "fall planters"

Here's what I have for fall sowing:

Shasta Daisy "Silver Princess" (a dwarf variety that stays about 1.5 ft. high and is compact and bushy) - have lots
Larkspur, blue - have lots
Bachelors buttons, mixed (not many, but some)
Bleeding heart (very few to share)
Columbine (again, just a few)
Black Eyed Susan -not ready yet. Will collect once they set seed.

Anyone interested? What do you have? I'm particularly interested in finding the perennial delphinium.

Pyewacket --- I found this article on stratifying: http://flowergardens.suite101.com/ar...fy_chill_seeds. From my own personal experience, nicking is easily done by rolling it between two sheets of course sandpaper (nicking with a knife can lead to injury!). And sometimes you can just soak the seeds that call for nicking--it softens the seed coat and produces the same result.

I have 3 different colors of delphinium. Blue, dark purple, and light purple. These are perennials. I would trade for some bleeding heart if you have enough of it, diana. Angmf, if you want some of these also PM me.

Deb's delphinium

Ooh, yes. I will trade a few bleeding heart seeds for some delphinium. Please don't think I'm chintzy when you get the pack--I really don't have much to work with here! Sending you a PM with my addy.

Angmf, I'll send you a PM, too.

Diana

K angmf, the purples are not dried yet. I can cut them off and send to you and let you dry them. Will that work ? Or would you rather wait until the other things I promised you are ready and send them all later?
