Thumbs upIndiana Hoosiers You Out There?

Hello I am from Indiana the upper part, the great cold state in the winter time as it is now and 7 inches of snow just fell. So off we go slipin and slidin to our appointments today!! I have to dream of gardens to be and also play around with my plants downstairs in the heated basement that we set up with timed lights which really is not so bad. I start all my seeds there of anything that needs a early start like tropical whatever or vines things of that nature. Let me know what you grow in Indiana...

I like to have perennials that naturalize like coneflowers, asters, shasta daisies, vines that do well without my help like sweet pea's and clematis and morning glories but will grow things they say can't be grown here . One of my pet peeves yeah I have one or two of those are the endangered list of vines or plants. If we let them get that dangerously close to extinction why not bring them back by sharing them and growing them so they aren't close to extinction anymore? Such are the Matelea's and the Lady Slippers, Not a hard thing to figure out just because they say well it is my states vine or plant well years ago it used to grow in mine tooo!! Much is said about this online and I am sure someone will always have a negative opinion on sharing the seeds of a hard to find vine or plant but I feel as long as you don't dig it up just collect the seeds and share what harm is there in that? If we did this in each State there would be no endangered plant list. Well I am getting off my soapbox but I will grow what I can and bring back as many vines and plants as I can in my lifetime!!! Won't you help me!!!

So let me know you exist and if you don't come from Indiana I hope all my new friends will just stop in and say Hi Carol how you doin' LOL Where's the Hot Chocolate?

Carol

SmileHello Carol

Nice to meet you neighbour. I am in IL,same zone, same weather.
I did grow a little of everything, but run out of space,so I decided in 2009 just perennials and a few veg,no room for more vines,
my latest love are lilys and daturas,
If you interested I have seeds I can share with you:
#31Clematis-sweet autumn vine ,
#21-Euphorbia Kilimangaro,
red trumpet vine-not pictured
and more,check my album,
Though I don't like and don't drink milk, you always welcome for hot chocolate,
why winter here is so loooooong? can't wait for spring.

Red faceHi there Saba!!

Well Neighbor!
Were all gonna have to meet one of these days aren't we LOL
Illinois is not that far from me at all.
Thank you so much for the offer but I grow alot of the same
things as you I think, red trumpet vine, Clematis sweet autumn
I have never grown the Euphorbia that I know of. I will have to
check out your album for sure. I used to grow some of the plain
old white datura back about 10 years ago I have a couple of
Lilys. I love Tiger lilys and Stargazer. they are the most spectacular!

This weather is crazy snow then no snow then some of kind of
weird weather now back to no snow and more snow!!

spring cannot come quick enough for me either!!

hugs
Carol
