My Patio Garden

Hi everyone! I live in a townhome and am limited to container gardening, but that isn't going to stop me from creating my own little plant haven!

Here is my patio/balcony after I did some repotting and rearranging this morning. This area of the house gets really great morning and mid-day sunlight then shade in the afternoon.

The green Japanese Maple Tree started off as a seedling from my mother's Japanese Maple tree. It's now about 3-4 years old. The plants in the middle are succulents and the flowering plant is an upright Fuschia Gartenmeister.

For some color, I have Dahlberg Daisies in the left plant box and hanging succulents and Bonfire Begonias (not pictured) in the other.

In the corner ledge, I keep my vegetable plants, which are Roma & Cherry tomatoes and an Anaheim Pepper plant. I can't wait until they are ripe!

I love Japanese Maple trees so much that I had to add a Bloodgood to my collection. I hope that someday when we own a house I'll be able to plant it in my yard. But for now, I'll just keep transplanting.

Out front, I keep another Fuschia Gartenmeister, a braided money tree and some flowering plants.

I have no idea what the white/frosty plant is, but it has survived for 3 years! Next to it is a climbing Jasmine plant. I hope to get it to bloom!

The white frosty plant looks like Dusty Miller. You can actually trim that back and it should fill out for you.

I love your back patio! I'd fill it up with plants too!

The patio furniture is gorgeous and looks so comfy!

Thanks, Panda! I'm trying to go for a Zen/Asian theme on the patio. It connects to the living area, so I want it to feel like an extention of our home.

Well, I'd say it looks like a part of your home. Great job! The Japanese maples work well with your theme as well? Maybe a live thin bamboo plant screen somewhere?

And I love the fuschia plant as well!

The Japanese Maples add a lot of character. I have been looking to add some Bamboo or possibly some Horsetail Reed as a border along the edge of the balcony. I have so many ideas! I'd also like to make my own fountain to put out there as well. Do you have any pics of your garden?

I have pictures of my garden posted throughout the forum. You can go to my personal page and look at the albums. But I really need to update the pictures on it.

One of the latest threads that I've posted some pictures are the June blooms thread: Let's show our 'June blooms'... And on the Mayflowers thread, on pages 3, 4, and 7, you'll see some more shots of the garden. Mayflowers.... show your flowers of the month :)

Very pretty KB, I love your maters & fushia, the maples are very nice & u seem to have a green thumb cause they all look happy on the patio. I too like to recommend a water feature to the mix, not too huge but, the sound would be awesome for u, & add a few whimsical yard art pieces, windchimes, frogs, etc. .U are on the right track & love it.

Good work. I love what you've done. I'll remember that when I have to moved into a retirement village 10 or 15 years from now--or maybe tomorrow. LOL
